Admissions Process

All admissions to St. Gabriel are handled by the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools (MACS) Admissions Office. A summary of the admissions process, timeline, and academic testing for new students is provided below. Complete information, forms, and FAQs can be found on the MACS Admissions Office website.   1. The admissions process begins with submitting a completed application form, accompanied by:

    • Recent academic records or preschool teacher's evaluation
    • Required immunization and health records
    • A copy of the student’s birth certificate
    • A copy of the student’s baptismal certificate
    • A “Parish Participation Voucher” for those seeking priority placement and a tuition discount as an active member of a Catholic parish
    • A $100 nonrefundable application fee to initiate the admissions

  1. The timeline for application and admissions invitations are the same for all schools in the MACS system:

Early admissions  The month of January Mid March
Spring admissions  The month of February Mid April
General admissions  March 1 until all seats are occupied  Three weeks following completion of academic testing (see below)


Priority for admissions is given in this order:

  • siblings of current MACS students who are participating Catholics
  • students of MACS teachers who are participating Catholics
  • participating Catholics of a Mecklenburg County parish
  • participating Catholics of a parish outside of Mecklenburg County
  • siblings of non-participating Catholics/non-Catholics currently enrolled in MACS
  • non-participating Catholics and non-Catholics

 

  1. New students are admitted to MACS schools after the completion of academic screening administered by ABC Tutoring and Educational Services in Matthews, NC. The test results help determine the grade level where student success will be assured. ABC Tutoring will contact you to schedule testing once the MACS Admissions Office has received a completed application.
