Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools
Learning Support Program

altDescription:

The Learning Support Program of Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools is a regional program established in each of the eight MACS schools.  It was created for the purpose of addressing the individual learning needs of our students.  Each school has one or more Learning Support Teachers who are specially trained in working with specific learning needs.  This group of professionals comprises the Learning Support Team.  The program strives to provide support on multiple levels:  to the student, the teacher and the parents.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools' Learning Support Program is to identify and facilitate a successful learning environment for each student experiencing learning difficulties in the classroom.

St. Gabriel Catholic School Student Assistance Team (SAT):

The SAT is a resource that is available at St. Gabriel to help students reach their full potential by assisting and supporting the teachers and parents.  The team consists of an administrator, counselor and Learning Support teacher.  The team works with the teacher or the teacher and parent to develop strategies and interventions that address any concerns that are interfering with school success.

Classroom teachers, specials teachers and parents may refer students to SAT.  The concerns may include academic, behavioral, social, medical or other issues such as attention, speech articulation, language processing, motor skills, handwriting, etc.
