About Us

St. Gabriel Catholic School is part of the Mecklenburg Area Catholic School System (MACS), which is a centralized, regional system of schools in the Charlotte area that includes 8 schools (a high school, a middle school, 6 Kindergarten through 5th grade schools and an additional middle school on the campus of St. Mark School).  As part of MACS, St. Gabriel Catholic School  is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

St. Gabriel Catholic School opened in 1958 with a kindergarten class held in the church sacristy.  The current St. Gabriel School and Parish Center building was dedicated on December 8, 1992.  Our beautiful building houses kindergarten through 5th grades and also contains a media center, computer lab, a dedicated enrichment classroom (LEAP), gymnasium, cafeteria, teacher resource center and an art room.

St. Gabriel Catholic School strives to offer our students a challenging and balanced curriculum that will offer a strong academic foundation with opportunities for success in each subject area.  In addition, we provide a sound Catholic religion program that will deepen each student's relationship with God through participation in the sacraments, personal prayer, liturgical and para-liturgical celebrations.  We encourage parental involvement in school functions and activities and see this involvement as a way to strengthen our families.  The St. Gabriel PTO – made up entirely of volunteers – coordinates numerous events and programs that enrich our school and make it a vibrant community.  All parent volunteers, school staff, and faculty must participate in an important program called Protecting God’s Children.

The school day begins at 7:55 a.m. with prayers, announcements.  First dismissal of grades K-2  is at 2:20pm with announcements and prayers. Second dismissal for grades 3-5 is at 2:40.  Before school care is available (at no charge) beginning at 7:00 am daily. An after-school enrichment program is offered from 2:50 to 6:00 pm on school days for a fee.
